Dear Porsche,
Please make small four door diesel or hybrid (40 MPG HWY) - like the Macan, you know, but, like, a car, not an SUV(?).
Thank you,
Every Man.
I need a commuter car, but not really. I want to spend around 20k on a second car for the wife to drive in the city, to go upstate with, and general family moving-people-around specific. Fun? How fun can a commuter car be?
My choices are a 2011 Prius Five (adaptive cruise control!) or a 2012 VW Golf TDI. Both are certified, something I consider a must when I buy a used car. For the first couple years I don't want to worry about small things breaking (meaning tech stuff mostly). When it comes down to it, how much more "fun" is the golf compared to the prius?
Also, the sooner I pay it off, the sooner I can buy a Porsche 911 964, so there's that.
What do you guys think?

If they did, it would be at least $50k.

If Porsche made an affordable commuter, it would be a Golf or A3 TDI.
As for your question about how much more fun a Golf would be to a Prius: 1) however much fun you think a Golf TDI may be is the exact amount more fun it is than a Prius (not fun at all), and 2) drive both- if you have to ask after that...

I'm about to purchase a 1979 Porsche 944 as a commuter car. I first need to figure out how to insure and register the wife's BMW 520d wagon, though. That's another post for another day.

Golf TDI all day, there is nothing fun about a prius.

I would like to see the Macan as a hatch but at the same time I dont like seeing porsche making all these 'no-so-porschey' models in the first place :/

i'd love to see Porsche's version of a GTI or M235i hatch...
